Top AI researcher exits: Joelle Pineau, who leads Meta’s fundamental AI research group, announced her departure after eight years at the social media company. Pineau, who also is a computer science professor at McGill University in Montreal, said it was time for her to “create space for others to pursue the work.”

TikTok talks: US President Donald Trump is set to meet Wednesday with other members of his administration to discuss a deal to potentially keep TikTok available in the US — and owned by US investors — in advance of an April 5 deadline.

Potential chip deal: Qualcomm is weighing an offer for Alphawave, a London-listed chip company that went public in 2021. The US chipmaker will have to make a decision by April 29 to comply with UK takeover rules if it wants Alphawave, which makes high-speed semiconductor and connectivity technology that can be used for data centers and AI applications.

IQM, a Finnish startup that builds quantum computers, is said to be in talks to raise more than $216 million as investors look to put money into the nascent technology.
